Delmar Loop Gigabit Wi-Fi Moves Forward
Demonstration Site to be Announced in August
Smart City STEAM App for K-12 Schools to be Developed

Following in the footsteps of University City founder  Edward Gardner Lewis, and to better prepare persons from all walks of life for a digital world, iNeighborhoods and our partners plan to engage the Delmar Loop neighborhood to build an inclusive, community integrated public Gigabit Wi-Fi network. By working with the greater St. Louis education, business and innovation communities, and by developing high-speed data applications and business opportunities indigenous to the Delmar Loop and Delmar Divide experience, iNeighborhoods and our partners will make use of data applications that create social and economic benefit for each type of block or intersection; thus, building a community integrated Gigabit Wi-Fi network one block at a time. The first data application to be developed is a Smart City STEAM Expedition App and curriculum for K-12 schools. Groups of students from area schools will have an opportunity to complete before, during, and after expedition, mobile data and Internet of Things IoT learning activities to support their Smart City growth and development.

The Delmar Loop Trolley will be part of the classroom expedition. The learning experience will begin with a kickoff at the Missouri History Museum, a trolley ride out to the University City library, activities, and Smart City classroom assignments at the library before returning to the History Museum via trolley while collecting additional mobile and Internet of Things IoT data along the trolley route.

Three community engagement and education meetings will be held during the summer at the University City Library second floor auditorium located at 6701 Delmar Blvd. The purpose of the meetings will be to share, listen to your interests and concerns, meet our partners, as well as discuss the community, economic and business impact.  We will also discuss our work and investment to date and the current EDRST grant process.

Your ideas and feedback are essential to the success of the Delmar Loop, Smart City Gigabit Wi-Fi program. Please be sure to invite your friends, neighbors and colleagues.
