NJII to Partner with iNeighborhoods

NEWARK, NJ, November 7, 2019 – New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), an NJIT corporation, will partner with iNeighborhoods Inc., a St. Louis based company to enhance NJII’s smart city mission and solution portfolio.

NJII’s Smart City program is designed to catalyze innovation to improve our cities here and now and create resilient environments where innovation, collaboration and an engaged citizenry thrive.  With disruptive technologies come many questions and new opportunities. NJII finds answers by bringing together leaders from business, government and leading universities.

iNeighborhoods has provided solutions for multiple cities including the St Louis area, Kansas City, Ottawa, Nashville and Carbondale. Their solutions include a unique technique to engage with neighborhood leaders and civic agencies to ensure that smart city initiatives address clearly defined community priorities, objectives, design criteria, business and implementation plans. iNeighborhoods methodology provides cities, municipalities and innovation districts with a means to monitor and verify results and modify initial programs based on changing factors in smart city deployments.

NJII’s Senior Executive Director, Smart Cities Innovation, Thomas Motyka said, “NJII’s Smart City portfolio aids city leaders in navigating the myriad of technology advancements available today. Our partnership with iNeighborhoods will bring our complementary capabilities together to deliver more effective smart deployments to cities throughout the country.”

David Sandel, CEO of iNeighborhoods and lead author of Smart Economy in Smart Cities – St. Louis Chapter commented, “By working with NJI, we are able to address one of the fundamental problems of Smart Cities…how to produce inclusive economic impact while generating new public and private sector revenue streams. The program works for cities, city-university pairs, utilities, innovation districts and developers.”
